Good condition; plays quite long!

I enjoyed my day at GC Leimershof. The course was in good condition, it was a shame though that my golf game wasn't!
The course is long already at 6000m+ but with the gradients it plays even longer.
To be critical; i think there should be a few more fairway bunkers introduced as off almost every par 4 or 5 tee i was using my driver with relatively no consequence. I like it when courses make you think a bit more rather than just making you hit it as far as possible each time. That said, the difficulty rating would increase dramatically due to the length of most holes.
Fees were still at off season rate; summer prices look quite high.
I'm looking forward to returning again soon- but i might have to go to the gym for a while beforehand though ;)

We were passing through and wanted to play a round of golf.
The place was already pretty dry. Fairways were almost unplayable as there were more dry than green spots.
A second time we would certainly not play this course. That's not worth the 140€ for 2 players. And then the card on top.

We also played the course during this period. And yes... it is not easy to play in some areas due to the topographical location. You should be physically fit or take a cart. Fortunately, we are not (yet) dependent on the latter.
But:
The greens are really not in good condition. Completely uneven and ZERO directional stability. Much too long and therefore mega slow.
Bunkers are okay. Fairways also "okay". But not any more. Sometimes just too long.
Even in the first cut, the balls can sometimes no longer be found because the grass is too high and is more like the length of the second cut.
Many tracks are characterized by "blind strokes".
The flag can often only be seen from about 110m in front of the green.
The range was pretty "chopped up". The greenkeepers could relocate the tee-off area earlier so that you don't just stand on a perforated surface and hit. It is also too short for long hitters. Well hit drives end up in the back of the forest.
Service at the counter very friendly. Gastronomy offer was not used and can therefore not be assessed.
Conclusion:
Has one played before? But it doesn't have to be again.
For those who are from the area, however, the course is still a better alternative than the former Allied 9-hole course in Bamberg.
Give 2.5 stars. Unfortunately, it is not enough to round up to 3.

One thing in advance: I do not understand some of the negative reviews and am glad that I formed my own opinion by playing the course myself. YES, it's not just because of its topography, but as a player you know that beforehand. If I play a golf course in Upper Franconia, then you have to expect to pitch on a hilly place. A cart is definitely recommended. But it is precisely this topography that can be very challenging and absolutely feasible for experienced, good golfers.
To the actual evaluation:
We played the golf course on August 14th, 21st and had fantastic weather. The place was in good condition in terms of fairways, tees and bunkers. The greens were acceptable, a bit slow, but the greenkeepers had to rebuild and "nurse" the greens due to the dry previous years. They succeeded, they are not that fast and with a few small holes, but can still be done in regulation with 2 putts.
The course is really perfectly integrated into a wonderful, quiet forest landscape. You feel isolated and can enjoy your round of golf perfectly. The up and down results in very interesting layouts on the one hand, which make the game varied and on the other hand offer really great views. You should always keep in mind how the track goes and falls, then a controlled hit and you will be rewarded. It is better not to start without a head, because then you will be disappointed by a ball-swallowing monster. But all other golfers will be delighted. Play the course and enjoy it, but take your time with the preparation so that there is no frustration.
The club secretariat was very nice and everything went smoothly. The club terrace is beautifully designed and you feel very comfortable in the tranquility of the area. You have a bit of the feeling that you are in the south, which is certainly due to the Mediterranean design of the Italian restaurant operator.
All in all, a great day of golf. I've played a few courses here in the region and I have to say that Gut Leimershof is an absolute highlight. I am glad that I played this course, despite the reviews mentioned at the beginning, and the overall picture: place, restaurant, secretariat prove me right. The next time I visit the region, I will play the course again to see whether the greenkeepers have got the greens.

The GC Bamberg is beautifully embedded. But that is unfortunately the real highlight of the plant. In dry conditions the place is quite idiosyncratic. Surprise in Bamberg

We wanted to play in transit in the region but had almost made a big detour because this place was not discussed. That would have been a mistake. This place is a MUST in the region, especially if you like hilly places - like us. On Saturdays we have 50 green fee € 25 and paid for the cart. that was the thing all worth it!
Only criticism is that the very 18 hole (par 3) comes boring and uninspired. Maybe you have the 2x9 holes "flipped" lest the steep and deep (current) holes 8 and 9 are at the end of the round? Respect, who goes this place. I recommend first time to take a Cart to play along.
