I played the three times 9 holes at the end of July 2022. Due to the weather, the fairways are sometimes a bit dry. The discounts and the greens are very well maintained. We had a nice companion from home who pointed out a few details to us in a meaningful way. You can walk all day with a daily green fee of €75. Due to the beautiful design of the place there is no boredom. I will definitely come back.

Courses west, east and north played on 3/3/2021. The 27-hole course with an additional 6-hole short course is located near the winter sports resort Winterberg, in the Sauerland in the middle of nowhere in absolute peace and nature. It is a few kilometers of winding country roads to the next motorway (A 4.45 or 46). Some renovation work is currently taking place, e.g. a new terrace in front of the 9th green of the west course. The pro shop is located in the clubhouse itself, where you also pay the green fee. The employee was friendly. The restaurant (closed / toilets under the clubhouse near the caddy rooms) makes a solid impression from the outside. I paid a very cheap 45 € (winter price, despite summer greens) daily green fee and was able to play all 27 holes with it. You need tee times that you can easily book online, even as a guest. The game operation on a warm and sunny spring Wednesday afternoon was manageable. Lt. A very nice member, with whom I was allowed to play together, is currently missing the Dutch holidaymakers, who otherwise frequent the facility very much. So we were able to enjoy the lap relaxed and without pressure from behind and forwards. The maintenance condition was not yet optimal due to the season, but basically okay. The greens unfortunately have an unsightly mushroom, but were still playable. The grass on the fairways was a bit too long and the rough next to the fairways was partially repaired with sand. Price / performance ratio was completely in line with the time of year. The toilets on the course in the form of large golf balls are an eye-catcher. From some railways you have very nice views of the Sauerland. The topography is hilly to mountain goat. If things are still smooth on the west course, it increases on the east course and reaches its climax on the north course, so that at least on the east and especially on the north a cart is urgently recommended for those who are not quite as sporty. On the north course there is one or the other stretch to the next tee. There are some nice raised haircuts in compensation. The most blatant here is certainly the first tee on the north course (felt like 100 meters downhill at an angle) and the second tee on the east course. Every now and then, water hazards come into play, sometimes in the form of streams, where strategic decisions should be made. Doglegs, a few exclusions that have to be observed, isolated blind strokes and small forest aisles, as well as some well-placed bunkers complete the game, so that you never get bored. Due to the mostly very open tees, high HC should also be able to handle most courses. The majority of the members met greeted them in a friendly manner and you can tell that an active club life is taking place here. Anyone who loves scenic, sporty challenging places and does not expect a noble meadow, is in the right place in Schmallenberg.

Very nice reception and uncomplicated check-in. The 3 times 9 holes are divided into the west, east and north courses.
There are spectacularly beautiful views of interesting and challenging tracks, some of which are quite steep or even rise. You should be in good physical condition - especially if you want to play with the rental trolleys.
Due to the great variety of fairways, the space is also suitable for multiple use without getting boring. The greens are not always in perfect condition - but otherwise the course offers a lot of fun. Price-performance ratio is definitely right.
Nice, sporty clubhouse with friendly service à la Deimann.

The fairways are nicely intrigued into the landscape and also play fair. Unfortunately the condition of the place was not good. The fairway was very broken and brown in places. Apparently they haven't mowed for a long time...
The biggest disappointment was the aerated greens. There was no notice from the secretariat / website and no reduction in the green fee.
Furthermore, I would like to point out the numerous stones in the bunker... actually doesn't have to be.
All in all, I was really looking forward to the day of golf and played not that bad at all (West course was really nice despite strong climbs). BUT the condition of the place was a disaster!

Exciting and exhausting

We have all 3 courses West / East / North played. One starts regularly with West, which is not very spectacular. Maybe two tracks remain in memory where you should play tactically. Otherwise, nothing exciting. The East course we walked in connection, which is already very sporty. It goes up and down some very steep. But you get to see great discounts over a ravine and interesting paths. It always goes up or down and still mostly with slopes. Our favorite has a par 5 dogleg right like, lane 7 (East). The discount is based on the height in the valley (or via shortcut through a small forest) and the green is protected by a beautiful pond.
Even more spectacular is it on the North Course. Due to the sometimes very long distances and the many slopes each sporting an average golfer is strongly recommended a cart. We have played all 3 places available (West / East / North). North and East are the most spectacular, but it starts normally always with West.
